The WCFTC welcomes all members and visiting clubs to our 25-year celebration!
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 25 years since we founded the WCFTC. And it’s incredible to see how far we have come and to recognise how significant it is that we are still standing! There are several reasons for this, but the main ones include the passion and dedication by our local members, both old and new, and the consistent support that we have received from travelling triallers from other clubs, most notably our ‘sister’ club, Border. It is hard to put into words how grateful we are to all that attend this trial and make it a success. We salute you all!
As always, I would like to make special mention of the landowners who allow us to train and trial on their farms: Rossouw Swart (Kleindam Renosterveld Reserve (‘Patrysvlei’)), Willie and Tienie Theunissen (extension of Patrysvlei), George de Kock (Driefontein), Ian le Roux (Fonteinskloof), Erhardt du Toit (Bo-Schietpad), Kosie Wessels (Jonaskraal), Andre Wessels (Schietpad) and Schalk Viljoen (Dasberg Renosterveld Reserve). It is an honour and a privilege to be able to conduct our trials on one of the most endangered habitats on earth: We hold those who protect it in the highest regard.
We are also honoured to once again be supported by Lionel’s Choice, who have not only provided the bulk of our prizes but have also generously supported the printing of our booklets and our stunning caps. A sincere thank you to all our additional sponsors for their very generous donations to our bar, including Six Dogs (gin) and Bruce Jack (wine), as well as to individual club members who have contributed financially to assist us with covering trial costs. This support remains critical for us – we are indebted to those who acknowledge this.
Again, a massive thank-you to our chief convener and treasurer, Marian Boardman, for arranging the HQ, accommodation and finances. And to Sumi Gouws, our wonderfully artistic secretary, who once again did a remarkable job with our booklet, as well as our very beautifully designed merchandise, setting the bar quite high! Thank you to the entire committee, for pulling together to seek sponsorships, for taking on trial duties with gusto and for helping us to keep our beloved club alive!
Wishing you all a fun and exciting trial. May the weather, the birds and the dogs be on our side and may we once again enjoy the comradeship we share with our special friends!
